A PLACE CALLED HOME

2025 / 16mm / 66 mins

PRODUCTION 455-1 Films

WRITER/DIRECTOR  Patt Sukmongkol & Max Jacoby

Shot on 16mm and filmed over the course of a year—one day each month—A Place Called Home follows the daily life of a young Thai woman living in Amsterdam. She keeps in touch with her sister in Bangkok and connects with friends she’s made locally, caught between staying close to her roots and finding her place in the Netherlands.

Based on several real testimonies, condensed into one character, this creative documentary explores the experience of being Asian in Europe. It blends the intimacy of a visual diary with a subtle tension between longing and belonging.
